MODX Revolution Vs. MODX Evolution

MODX Evolution empowers software developers and enthusiasts to build websites exactly how they want since many years. Let us see some differences between MODX Revolution and MODX Evolution.

         MODX Evolution is classic code base that entered stable production release in 2005. It has a larger number of Add-ons which offers pre-built functionality and is highly optimized to execute well for many types of websites.

Although, MODx is not available with an included tool for backing up the content of your website, there is a Module that makes this task easier. The module is named Modbak and can be downloaded from modx website.

Once you install and run Modback, it creates a .zip file that contains all of the files of your website and a dump file of its database. Installing the module is quite very easy process. One simply needs to follow the steps in the download URL and you will have the module installed and running within a minute.

Secondly, you can create backups of your website manually. You need to archive your files and the database of your application.

Now, if your hosting account is under 500 MB, you can take benefit of the internal cPanel backup tool. Log in to your cPanel account and click on the Backups button. On this page, press the "Download or Generate a Full Web Site Backup" button and follow the instructions one by one. A complete backup of your account (including your MODx website) will be downloaded to your local computer within few minutes.
